Artificial nails are fake nail extensions that are used to elongate the length of the natural nails, to beautify and make them as natural looking as possible.

Artificial nails allow refinement and fantasy and can be decorated with jewelleries. Genuine work of art can be accomplished on this fake nails, especially for special occasions. They are quite useful in concealing damaged nails and improving the appearance of very short nails.

This false nails are much more resistant than the natural nails, and nail varnish can remain on them for weeks. They also deter nail biters, and can assist in overcoming nailbiting habit.

They are mainly used for temporary effects, and for special occasions. They usually require a substantial area of natural nail plate for solid adherence. They are less expensive than the sculptured nail system.

This press-on-nails should not be worn for prolonged period, maximum of 7-10 days is recommended. Some nail tips should be removed after about 18 hours. Prolonged wear may cause natural nail degeneration or fungal infection, and will even create a noticeable gap between the nail tips and the cuticles.

French Nails can come as preformed nail tips or can be achieved with nail polish.

Sculptured Nails. This nail system is used to achieve a stronger, longer, more attractive nails. This is when a liquid monomer is mixed with powder polymer. This form a liquid resin, which hardens at room temperature, or by exposure to UV rays depending on the nail system. The liquid resin is then applied in successive applications until the desired length is achieved. The false nails are then filed and polished.

Although there are kits for home use, this system is usually carried out in beauty salons. The results can be quite appealing and beautiful.

Acrylic Nail system.

Acrylic nails are formed when acrylic liquid bond with acrylic powder. The results are very strong nails that can withstand usual wear and tear.

Gel Nail System.

Gel nails are clear, flexible and natural-looking nail extensions. Gels can be used for natural nail overlays or tip overlays to promote the growth of natural nails.

Silk Wrap Nail System/Fibreglass Nail System.

Fiberglass nails are also known as silk wraps and are one of the safest artificial nail extension systems. Silk wrap nails are synthetic nail reinforcement made from pieces of silk material. Small pieces of the silk material is cut to the size and shape of the fingernails and applied using a small amount of glue.
